Who's There? - Poem by Payal Lalwani
Who is it?
That one in the shadowy reflection.
A hint here, a drop there-
Thought it's you.
Who is it?
Sometimes I'm almost there -
Still it eludes like a
like a snatch of melody.
Maybe it's you, you, you.
Who is it?
One echoes-
How true, how it never ever soothes-
Surely it must be you!
It's me, me, me.
I see myself in a smile
or is it a cry?
I find myself a moment
next it just disappears.
Me, me and me
I keep on foraging
Why my soul is still hungry.
bereft of all that is good.
Let me ask -
Who' there?
Wait, wait, wait
For the ring of truth.
