Who...Said That? Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Who...Said That?

It has already been said.
Shown and it proven.
That it only takes,
Just one liar to start a fire.
Skilled in deception.
Fraud and corruption.
Can destroy the quality of life.
Including the meaning,
Of humanity and democracy.
If put in a position to lead.
Incompetently!
Although,
Impressive in image.
With status.
And yet to determine,
Questionable wealth.
Claimed and announced,
To have.
Along with declaring to be,
A genius.

And...
Remarkably,
Followed with support given.
By those equally addicted,
To self importance.
With a touch of overdosing,
On self fulfilling hypocrisy!
Proclaimed and anointed.

'Who...said that? '

The many who regret,
The ignorant and stupid...
Decisions they made.
To now wish...
This had not been done.
As publicly as it was.
Since impossible it is,
To deny themselves to be...
Fools!
Volunteering...
To be chosen.
As criminal accessories!
But...
Living in denial.
Regardless of the evidence,
Of them together...
Smiling victoriously.
In 'selfies'.
Personally sent to each other!
