Why Have You Slept? Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Why Have You Slept?

Rating: 5.0

Millions were sleeping in that hour
Knowing not that there came a star.
It was like the time you were born
Few was aware, none was to scorn.
But I ask you, were you aware
When there was a story to share?
While you were dreaming fantasies
A star showed truth’s realities.

In the middle of a dark night
Someone was preparing the flight.
In that time, why were you busy?
You’ve slept while someone’s uneasy.
When were you when those things happened?
Unconsciously, you were threatened
Because a star fell down and died
Wishing that you were by its side.

Why have you slept? Why have you slept?
From harm you were tried to be kept.
Someone tried to let illusions
Not touch you and your decisions.
Can you grant a star’s simple wish
To let your life never perish?
Awake! Awake! Please be awake!
The world shall soon begin to shake!

Stay alert and now be conscious.
You should know that time is precious.
