Why Would You Do This? Poem by D.A. Woods

Why Would You Do This?

Rating: 5.0

You felt you wanted to be free for no shackled desires,
you traded love for ghosts for everyone to admire.
Leaving my feelings and love burning deep within the fire,
you broke my heart and crumbled down our love built spire.

Weeks have gone by and the children need their mum,
without you around how will they ever succumb,
to your running away for J.D. & company, what have you done.
Love was there from us all and look at what you've become.

Falling out of bars with a bottle and different men in arm,
for little David and Lucy, I could never disencharm.
I still keep things running at home, its awlays aswarm,
the day you left us behind, you forgot your three good luck charms.

We heard you died in a crossfire of drink, drugs and guns,
you should've picked up your heels and at that times begin to shun,
head back home, all would be forgiven, all in the long run,
but you stayed away and chose your life to become undone.

We burried you on Tuesday noon, in our quiet little town,
all our tears were flooding as the rain hailed down.
I wish things were different for you and I could turn time around,
but, I hope you found your happieness, your solace in the ground.
