Why Would You Make Your Mother Cry? Poem by D.N. Rebb

Why Would You Make Your Mother Cry?

When did you have in mind to buy the farm?
Hang on, why would you make your mother cry?
Deception hidden behind phony charm
And just leaving without saying goodbye

What kettle of fish did you evade from?
Take heed, why would you make your mother cry?
Live by the direction of the shrink's thumb
Key words of counsel shouldn't be denied

So what did you gain from all your backtalk?
And now, why would you make your mother cry?
Anticlimax didn't come as a shock
Not caring, isn't a worthy reply

Actually tell her she has a cold heart?
Damn you, why would you make your mother cry?
Outspoken criticism plays no part
Better off remaining poorly tongue tied

Is the consequence of apathy shame?
Ponder, why would you make your mother cry?
Silent moment of truth, a waiting game
Wet shed tears sing no soothing lullabies
