Wildflower Poem by Parivallal Swamy

Wildflower

Rating: 5.0

The way she lived startled others,
She never needed his presence to remain safe,
She never wanted her parents to guide,
Only sometimes, she needed her father's hand,
A pat on her shoulder, to comfort her,
To say not to fear when he is there….

She lived like a wildflower,
She drank water only when it rained,
She never bothered about the land, it's fertility,
She appeared in a form which pleases only her,
Only once a while, she wished to be in a garden,
A place where attention; guidance; offered in abundance….

She grew up to be better than most of the ornamental flowers,
She only wants to ornament herself with her virtues,
She'd seen the extremes a forest could offer,
It only made her realise better of herself,
She either overcame or moved aside at hurdles,
Carving a path, like a river does….

Few are the flowers, whose root smelled good,
Few tried to see through the complexion,
Few fought to live the way their heart says,
Those who laughed at her, think again,
Those who criticised her, think again,
She is all that you couldn't offer in your life, that you need….

Wildflowers grow with necessary things, not desirables,
They may not be looked upon and celebrated,
But they remain intact under any situation,
Only them could lead a life, unadulterated and pure,
Only them has the courage to fend for selves and the meek,
Benevolence and grace are often rendered from the strange…..

She fought everyday, for those in need,
For those who struggled, sometimes for herself,
Against the doctrines, against bent rules,
Against suppressors, sometimes against herself,
Her path was never easy, she never hoped it to be,
When none stood by her, only her virtues did….

She remained quiet, often gets not noticed,
Maybe she was unsure what attention can bring along,
Attention could be as addictive as poison,
Sometimes she smiled at her own mistakes,
Realised bad choices are often made to teach ourselves,
She liked company sometimes, both books and music….

She lived a life that startled others,
Maybe it is the dogma that runs the world,
More than reluctance, it is the world's fear,
Her success could be a system's failure,
Undulated at all the negativity, she remained to live with a zeal,
Like a Wildflower that learnt to thrive….

Wild flowers thrive under any circumstances. They are strong individuals. They may not look like a rose or smell like a jasmine, but they are endowed with enormous power of sustenance and leadership. A beautiful Poem Poet Swamy. Enjoyed reading your poem........10
