Winter Snow Poem by David Wood

Winter Snow

Rating: 5.0

The cold earth stood waiting.
Frigid cold grass at attention
Naked trees with extended
Branches pointing skywards.

Overhead dark grey clouds
Sighed heavily, even the wind
Paused in silent anticipation.

Slowly the first snowdrop fell
It's fractal dimensions floated
Gently to the waiting earth as
Time stood still.

Then the second snowflake
Followed by the third and so
It came, like confetti it fell
Covering a white crisp cape.

A pure white landscape once
Green became the new portrait.
Fields, hedges, paths and roads
Fir trees with their winter coats.

The wind breathes a sigh with a
Gentle breeze, gentle enough to
Blow once heavy clouds away
Leaving a sunny clear blue sky.
