Winter Thaw Poem by Marilyn Lott

Winter Thaw

Rating: 5.0

A fierce winter settled into my state
Trapped us in our homes for sure
Stopped everything in its tracks
Then snow fell so white and pure.

Ice cycles big as a wrestler's arm
Covered the branches of trees
Broke and crashed from the weight
They already had lost their leaves.

It was slow but sure and welcome
As the heavy ice began to melt
Water dripped from everything
And a relief is what we felt.

Slowly the warmth kept coming
So welcome you cannot imagine
Once huge puddles began to form
Our world began to move again.

You know, nothing lasts forever
And as a frozen world is all that we saw
We truly wanted to see nature change
And give us a winter thaw!

A slow welcome is done by snow. Fierce winter is settled into a stable state. A great imagery of winter is drawn in this excellently penned beautiful poem....10
