'Wisdom Dost Come Finally' Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

'Wisdom Dost Come Finally'

Wisdom dost come finally,
To those in need ~ then clearly,
For a Life I’ve led when all was good,
Was not lived ~ how I should.

For I did spend when money was there,
On things I needed ~ but did not beware
Of the Times to come, and come they did,
From which now, my mistakes, I cannot get rid.

‘Save for the future’ I was told,
‘Beware of times when you be cold’,
‘Embrace good health, it will not last’,
‘If you live long enough to remember the past’.

For when your work is restricted ~ then ~
The good times will haunt you day-by-day,
As essential bills you cannot pay.

Youth, Health, Money, Friends and more
Will not last, when you become poor,
Faith in yourself and HIM above,
Will move you forwards with a shove.
