Wise Advice Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Wise Advice

Advice wise,
From obtained experiences.
To learn with a gained wisdom.
Given.
Seldom is received to listen,
When the time is ripe...
But not quite right.
To hear it.
With undivided attention.
Until what has been said,
Becomes remembered to wish...
A having had to sit,
Without thinking 'then'...
After what is being said ends.
Had been nothing but nonsense.
To have that nonsense,
Become a dilemma to face.
Warned to come to avoid.
Yet...
Like all mistakes made,
Takes them to realize...
How wisdom is achieved to obtain it.

"I have made so many mistakes."

-And...
When did you begin to realize them,
To obtain your wisdom? -

"When I began to stop,
Believing to convince myself and others...
I knew something I did not.
With accepting my own ignorance.
As if it was my birthright to display."

-Join the club.
I was told many years ago,
Fools were self made.
To then prove it.-
