Wish Not To Sleep. Poem by Ritika Abrol

Wish Not To Sleep.

Grasped the reins of dullened eve
Debile arms, I tug in seethe
Locks of night as unknot they
Upon the sable breasts of day

Unruddy eyes, tears to gush
Cool the heat of cheeks aflush
Deep the crease, beads of sweat
Brow upon, they collect

Barricades set in my throat
Keep the screams deep below
As I fear this interlude
Night's becoming solitude

Loosened grip, begin to bleed
Palms, heart as angrily
Tears aflow, tears astream
Unblocked now, comes the scream

Push me not, unprepared
In nights tangled lair
Alone, into ghastly dreams
Where nothing is as it seems

Push, scratch, tug, defy
Uproot those manes, try I
Defeat me but within the drone
Numbed resistance, left alone

Fall hard I, sore in exhaust
In the grim, tired, lost
None with me, none I see
Ahung 'tween me and me

Till thy locks art brushed aside
Ahung I'll be within this state
Never shall I be asleep and
Never shall I be yet awake.
