Wishes To Exchange Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Wishes To Exchange

I wish there was a way for me to prove,
That one's undue suffering for them is not a gift.
Or being shiftless, lazy and having a lack of interest,
In one's own destiny...
Is not a blessing bestowed that one should cherish,
Or keep for wishes to exchange...
For wings and golden slippers and the singing with harps.
I wish there was a way for me to prove,
That one's clinging onto an ignorance...
Does not endear them to the ones seeing them as fools.
Or provides them with a nourishment in 'this' life.
