Without Pretensions To Charade Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Without Pretensions To Charade

Everything seems normal and fine.
When we have time to take,
The living of our lives for granted.
Doesn't it?
With a thoughtlessness.
Done to do whenever we choose.
Moving from one mindless attitude.
To another excusing this to do.

Those times are less to find these days.
With many being forced to think.
Something rare for the ones,
Evaluating and being stunned by reality.
And a process taking understanding...
To a level of comprehension,
That can be frightening for 'first-timers'.
Looking back...
How they reacted to pass judgement.
Upon the ones they 'assumed' to believe,
Had been wasting their time living basically.
Without impressions attempted to make.
Or pretensions to charade them.
To be laughed at and called crazed!

But these days so many are being made crazed.
With less time to find to make excuses.
And even less time,
Pretending themselves to be better than others.
Knowing this to do,
Only a fool would choose...
To become anointed by their own embarrassment.
