Wonderful Possession - Poem by Hasmukh Amathalal

Wonderful possession

Man is called animal
Lonely and isolated individual
With no feeling for self and others
He is carrying on aimlessly here

He doesn't know
How to live and where to go
How to respond to true call?
And adjust self before possible fall

Trim it to be responsive
Awakened and selective
To human sufferings
And all living beings

Develop little awareness
And bear smile on face
With love and attachment
Towards brethren living nearby at present

The heart is not only sensitive
But very much attentive
It picks signal of distress
Runs towards and helps to escape duress

Such heart is rare
You are lucky to have it here
Thank god for wonderful possession
You shall live always as lovely human
