Words Of Little Use To Me Poem by Francis Duggan

Words Of Little Use To Me

The scorn and anger of others i find hard to take their verbal blows i cannot parry
And words of little use to me in my defence since my words weight do not carry
But of bullies i know little fear in their hearts they are yellow
The bull that you should fear the most doesn't have the loudest bellow
I am one who has known ridicule but so too has many another
And i do not believe in the old saying that everyone is your sister and brother
Your brother or sister it would seem to me would be of kindred spirit
To an ordinary infidel such as i such a saying does not have merit,
Some people swear by their koran and others swear by their bible
And religion like human beings can seem so very tribal
'Tis sad to think many gain wealth and power through acts of exploitation
Though they too pray on their deathbed for their own soul's salvation
But as for me 'tis hell on Earth there won't be a hereafter
And i feel grateful for the stress release in my rare moments of laughter.
