Wounded Heart Poem by Oscar Sarceno

Wounded Heart

I sometimes hit the gym,
Every now and then to work out.

I feel my triceps, biceps growing
But don't feel my heart
Growing at all.

My heart is just as you left it.
Weak and fragile.

Too weak to get back up and try again,
Too fragile to fall in love once again.

My heart is shivering inside my rib cage
Begging to give up, pleading to
Throw in the towel.

But I won't!

I will get back on feet
And come out as the winner.

You gave my heart a big blow,
Almost too much to endure.

Knocked me off my feet
And I almost gave up...
On love.

But I won't!

I will rise back up,
On my two feet
And forget you

I will leave you on the ground
And never look back,
Not even once.

Because this heart,
Which you wounded
Deserves much better.
