once I enjoyed writing analysis reviews
of poems in an academic university format
identifying themes poetic devices features
deciphering titles stanza order metaphors
putting poem back together impressions
emotive responses honouring complete poem
I thought a few poets might enjoy the ink spilt
a few critic male poets extinguished enthusiasm

now I just rare write a few poetic comments
on poems by friend poets who do not object
inspired by their perceptive insights words
new poets might not get it be sensitive confused
if I write a poetic verse response on their poem
joy writing dedications limitless options restricted
