Wrong Door Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Wrong Door

Remaining prepared,
For any opportunity that comes...
Has its benefits.
If one stays aware,
That a keeping...
Both mentally and physically disciplined,
Is not a waste of time.
But an investment of interest made.
And remains capable to adjust and adapt,
With changes to make if necessary.
These days,
There are few who can afford to ignore...
The rapid pace,
Of what around them is being updated.
On a daily basis to be replaced.

Yet there are many claiming to blame,
Of not being shown to have known...
About those opportunities,
That came to have gone.
'Unannounced'.
Although...
Even if they should come to knock,
On one's door to at times repeatedly do.
Opportunities will be met to hear,
Reliable excuses and alibis used.

"Oh...uh...
I was just...uh..."

-Forgive me.
I remember you!
My mistake.
It happens.
Too obvious it is to me,
This 'opportunity' is at the wrong door! -
