You Ain't By Yourself Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

You Ain't By Yourself

Unless you've been confused.
With a choosing to do,
What it is you want.
And like it done too?
You aint by yourself!
To have ever felt,
To feel that way.
The only difference is this...
You have been made,
To believe...
I should prioritize,
Your wants, needs and wishes.
And every time I check,
What it is I wish to want...
On my list of priorities.
Nowhere are you on it.
With you I thank,
For that lesson taught to teach.
Taking me years to learn,
Every minute of it to love.
Oh no!
You ain't by yourself.
Although I will admit,
On my bag of chips I dip...
Before I choose,
What it is that satisfies me.
I prefer to use hot sauce.
How about you?

Uh...
Excuse me.
I don't want to give you,
The wrong impression.
But...
That was a question.
Not an invitation!
