You Allowed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

You Allowed

You allowed...
To spare the rod.
And spoil the child.
You allowed...
To dismiss a discipline.
Welcoming juvenile disrespect.
You allowed...
To disobey truth.
As deception came to stay.
You allowed each step of this.
You permitted...
The birth of a sickness.

You allowed...
To embellish and create,
Events that did not exist.
You allowed...
Accusations to make,
At someone else's expense.
You allowed lies to tell,
To know them lies when told.
You allowed...
The gates of Hell to open.
Believing them easy to close.

You allowed...
The inviting of conflict,
And the beginning of division.
You allowed...
An attention to get,
Demeaning others to belittle.
Whether they were business associates,
Family members or friends.
You allowed...
The quality of your life,
To take a nose dive quick.

And you allowed,
Your petty bigoted ways...
Boil into a racist hatred.
Leaving your mind,
And those just like you...
Diseasing the World,
With a mental illness to view.
You allowed.
And you will pay!
Not some day.
But now.
