You Are Being Poem by Francis Duggan

You Are Being

On your feelings of self worth you are being quite tough
When you tell yourself that you are not good enough
No need in words for you to put yourself down
Since there are plenty to do this for you in the town
To verbally put you down the local judgmental do not need your help in any way
Since on your lack of success they will have their say
Your own praises you do not need for to sing
But self criticism can become a self esteem destroying thing
Lack of confidence in self always leads to self doubt
And sadly their sort always seems to lose out
To verbally put yourself down is not helpful to you
Why help the judgmental on what they love to do
They need no help from you the judgmental of the town
Who do derive pleasure on verbally putting you down.
