Your comment on this poem as being one of encouragement is just what the reader needs. I love the two opening sentiments which acknowledge the other person's strength and then cautiously enter his space - I WILL COME NEAR TO YOU etc. - that is beautifully expressed. The speaker is volunteering his help in very sensitive, non-threatening language. The situation may or may not be desperate: the speaker is most definitely not desperate. I feel like I'm in the presence of a most admirable human being. You created him in just 50 words.
