You Are Tiresias Andyou Must Leave At Once. Poem by RIC BASTASA

You Are Tiresias Andyou Must Leave At Once.

you asked for the
truth, and you give
me a question which
i cannot answer, because
if it happens,
i will disintegrate
like dust. You know
about Oedipus and
how the Sphinx suffered.
Just one question more,
and you add one more,
my lies are aligned
ready for the conquer.
you have no right to
enter the domains of
my power. It is a secret
that keeps me living,
that keeps me strong,
that keeps me always
a mystery to you.
It is the unanswered
question that still keeps
me whole.
You will be my Jocasta.
I will be your Oedipus.

You are Tiresias and
you must leave at once.
