You make my mood— green from the grey of grim,
And remind me of good days to me dear,
You have the heart my wails of woes to hear,
Your stays, though ever brief, lift me like cream.
And this time too I was looking forward
To meeting you, O my life's sole delight,
Excited did feel this long locked up bird,
Trying to catch some winks that fateful night;
But came the breeze, passed by, not a leaf moved,
Your fragrance came but left— not hugging me,
Left me in doubt— were it one that once loved,
And once our witness, silent seemed the sea.
Nor do I live nor die, oh what a burden,
Me that never erred, pleading is for pardon.
