You Can Leave Now... Poem by dave lessard

You Can Leave Now...

Rating: 5.0

You can leave now
I can run the washing machine
sweep, dust and mop
keep the damn dishes clean.

I can manage my own house
hang pictures, arrange flowers
stay inside the goddamn house
when were having summer showers.

Walk the dog and feed the cats
make appointments with the doc
make my own damn bed
set my own damn clock.

Be happy when I'm sad
be cheerful when I'm not
keep my body in good shape
until the day it rots.

You can leave now
I'll be okay alone
eating my own meals
answering the phone.

Heart-felt! The repetition of the word makes it even more powerful!
