You Can Tell Yourself Poem by Francis Duggan

You Can Tell Yourself

You can tell yourself you are not good enough
That life on you is unfair and far too tough
But i ought to know if in words you put yourself down
You will never become an admired one of the town
Yes i ought to know if you put yourself down others you will not impress
And you are one who will never know of success
Since humility does not work in the Human World of today
The self effacing one as an unknown does stay
The admired of the town are not camera shy
To further their careers their best they do try
I am not good enough you will never hear them say
To be self critical is a recipe for failure in the Human World of today
And self promotion nowadays does seem the in thing
The most successful of people their own praises do sing.
