You Were Already Lost Poem by Matthew Holloway

You Were Already Lost

You were already lost
Before I knew I loved you
Already far, far beyond reach
Never to be known that touch
That feel of flesh upon lips
Never to know the warmth
Of laying together in silence
Just holding each other in darkness
Awaiting sleep and dreams
Awaiting another hour
Another day or year together
Just laying there in silence
Or whispers of future plans
No, no, no, no such is not to be
But all but a foolish dream
You were always lost
Before I fell in love with you
