Your Answer Is Tonight Poem by Ramona Thompson

Your Answer Is Tonight

Rating: 5.0

Written on Election Night 2008

Once long ago
One man had a dream
A dream that may well now have come true
Do we stand as one?
Do we stand united?
Blind to the color of our fellow man's skin?
Racist no more?
Count the votes
Watch on all your tv screens
Listen close and carefully to the speechs
Tonight is your answer

Tonight is a new beginning
A fresh start for us one and all
A miracle sent down from the mountain
Standing tall
Standing with hope in our hearts
Weeping tears of endless joy
Grateful that at last this day has come
Divided never more
Could be if you belive that
Your answer is tonight

A better day
A brighter tomorrow
Finally we are whole
Finally we are one
No more racial divides
No more foolish games
With his victory
We have all won
If you believe that
Your answer is tonight

This poet has said her peace
I leave you all now on this election night to your own private and personal thoughts
May you all be happy
May you all rest well
Watched over by those who fought so hard
Some even giving their very lives
For this moment
This one most wonderful moment in time
When at long last lady history can open her arms to embrace, smile and gently whisper
America, be proud
Be outstanding

For American
Tonight is your answer
