Zac The Parrot Poem by Shaun Cronick

Zac The Parrot

Rating: 5.0

At the museum where I happily work,
I saw a sight that made me quirk.
On a guy's shoulder in the distance,
Was a sight to behold in all existence.

At first I thought it was a bird of prey,
But as I drew closer not to my dismay.
Something so seldom seen that made my day,
Was a cool looking parrot all feathered and grey.

I talked to its proud owner Christian is his name,
Who said he's called Zac and from where he came.
An African Grey parrot is Zac and country's claim,
This beautiful bird so enthralling and tame.

Zac the parrot is a majestic looking creature,
Eighteen years old with a soon talking feature.
Was told he could live till eighty years old,
I'm sure it'll be more for this bird so bold.

Many happy children had now gathered around,
To view Zac star-struck, this bird does astound.
Zac is so cool, so battleship grey,
We're so lucky he visited us today.

I hope loveable Zac Christian and girlfriend Jo,
Do visit again making kids smile and faces aglow.
For Zac is quite an exhibit, quite a show,
All that's good in life, all it can bestow.

I can't see it happening,
But it might come true.
A visit by Cleese and Palin,
With their Norwegian Blue.
