ZIG-ZAGGERY IN ORANGE
(for an image created by Bradley Delany, using his fingertips on his phone)
... ... ... ...

A finger-tipped image that promises to stay in my mind---

a design of black, circuit-like zigzags on a delicious red-orange surface;

the zigs seem to invite a counterpoint of zags in a lighter color,

all of them connecting to yellow dots in strategic places.

We've all had brushes with alien sensibilities that seem to chase a deep mind's clock into the void...

and this could be the hallmark of a venturesome age...

unfortunately our staggering Atlas has been shot in the foot and needs help to uphold that expansiveness...

our margins are contracting, and the erstwhile edges feel like splintered encumbrances...

but one who has dwelt in the land of jazz

knows the reliable, ticking heart of exploration,

which to some minds is enticing...

and which may be rendered visually as a kinetic pattern cascading irresistibly across space...

the recognition of which may be consoling for unmoored lives...

because it shows a living aesthetic, on the march through our inevitable string of days...

which are the only places---be they ever so lackluster---

where lingering beauty is going to get any foothold at all.*
... ... ... ...

*[Note: Aside from the above image, my effusion was also inspired by the musings Brad posted at 2: 00 a.m. May 23rd.]
