Deep within the towering walls
And yet, still on the outside looking in
Trying to stay within the light
While finding darkness embracing

How many times will I say I love you
Only to find I speak it only in my thoughts?
How often will I turn to you
To find your back turned to me?

Remnants of an earlier age
Now renewed with more intensity
Once a whisper, now a shout
Friendship, now no less than love
...

A canyon lies before me
Endless to either side
Ahead, my life, my love, and you
Across the vast and bottomless depth
...

Softly across the western shores
The last of night begins to fade
And on the eastern horizon
Comes forth a brand new day
