Should Love Protect

Shame and dishonesty
in a world that's turned away
you knew and you know
what he has done

Some try to fight
for what is right
so try to stand
and put things right

You can't just smile
and pretend everything is alright
he should be in jail
where all the beasts belong

God is your witness
to what you will be
can't you use your free will
and put him where he should be

Should love protect
and let him stay free
or should humanity protect
the innocent and the victims

Should love protect

should love protect? a good question..as long as the actions fall under the laws of hearts and the society, love can protect, otherwise we have to face the consequences in the form of punishment..Nice. Dave..10 (Report) Reply

Very Beautiful especially the current situation going on...We say silence is golden..But its never going to work..one has to come up to protect his or her right. Good poem with great message.. Loved reading it. (Report) Reply

In a world that's turned away
Silent witnesses don't solve the problem. There must be a collective action. Beautiful poem. Thank you. (Report) Reply

Let the punishment fit the crime. Though if the crime is forgiven lest not forgotten case it happens again. (Report) Reply

truth should be put in its place without any reason
love, brotherhood or other reasons can not be justified for use as a protection
a message that is very important and very rarely recognized by us as humans
    very evocative poem

often justice is more important for the sake of humanity than protection of blind love hiding the truth.

so well asked this pertinent question, Dave! (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Wilfred Owen

All sounds have been as music to my listening:
Pacific lamentations of slow bells,
The crunch of boots on blue snow rosy-glistening,
Shuffle of autumn leaves; and all farewells:
