He calls unto the shoppers passing by,
Peering from his wooden hut
That dwells beside the bank.

To see the rising of the dawn
The fire of morning skies,
As day begins with you I know
My heart forever lies,

As I stand 'neath the cracks
Where the dandelions cling
To the bridge as the water lies still,
In the shade of its arch
...

The words she wrote did touch me so
I never shall forget,
For sweetness filled each flowing line
I live within her debt,
...

Above the lonely market dawn
The sun begins to rise,
And slowly makes its way into
The glowing ember skies,
...

O to be in Bethlehem
That clear and crystal night,
When Kings and shepherds travelled far
To glory at his sight,
...

The jasmine grows beside the fence
Its flowers of the purest white,
They touch my soul with deepest joy
As they now shine in morning light.

I see the sagging concrete walls
Of tenements and tower blocks,
All daubed with tags they grimly bear
The badges of our age,
...

For when I gaze into your eyes
Of deepest blue I see,
You're everything I've longed for most
You set my spirit free.

As far as the ocean does spread before me
And fades in the distance without sympathy,
While ebbing and flowing so graceful it lies
It clings to my dream but my dream always dies.
