O To Be In Bethlehem Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

O To Be In Bethlehem

Rating: 5.0

O to be in Bethlehem
That clear and crystal night,
When Kings and shepherds travelled far
To glory at his sight,
And following the star that shone
High in the sky above,
And guided on their journey by
Such sweet eternal love.

O to be in Bethlehem
When peace befell the earth,
And love did spread to nations far
At Christ my Saviour's birth,
And see the Son of God that lay
Within a manger bare,
And knowing that I'll always be
Within his tender care.

O to be in Bethlehem
To see the new born King,
There ride upon his majesty
And hear the angels sing,
To be there at that moment when
The holy child did lie,
Within that humble dwelling place
Beneath the starlit sky.

Andrew I'm surprised that this beautiful poem hasn't already been included in some collected verses about Christmas. It has the eloquence and musical integrity of the Christmas carols that are sung all over the world. A beautiful, inspiring piece. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
