and thought to myself 'it's only noon.'
Shouldn't banjos be plucked at night
while girls are clogging in delight?

No mother to nurture or feed me now.
Thrown into a world that the fates allow.

with a manful stride.
I watch in fascination
which I try to hide.

There's always something bothering me.
Why are you somewhere I can't see?
That something's here again today.
Feel as empty as can be.

Can we say goodbye and never cry?
Can we walk away and last one day?
Can we see the sun still shine,
just make believe we're blind?

There was a time in my life when things were all wrong.
But everything changed when you came along.
I tried to slow my heart and think things through.
But how can I do that with you around.

Every time I think of you
I think of times when all we knew
was making love in morning hours
