It's Only The Soil I Want To Be

It's Only the Soil I Want to Be
Md Mozaffor Hossain

The earth beneath takes pity on me,
Spares me from unexhaustive vengeances
It can wield upon me sans a ripple.

Tiny am I, trifler, the more I feel unlike
With the feeblest self, breathing in, breathing out
Frequently I boast, as if I lack concerns.

But the vast soil extends to the horizon,
Lies underneath forever bowing in poise,
Never rises irrespective of the wrongs it receives.

Some tread on it heavy, some dig deep with mortal hoes,
Some adulterate it through, some sell it to promiscuity.
Speaks it not, nevertheless, a single diction in indignation.

As I discern my debt, my false pride and pelf,
I pray that you pardon my imbecility, my non-sense.
Purify me, make me lie with the soil or beside.

The goriest anomaly done to me, to humanity, or to my kids.
Can I even monitor or regulate as I, with each twinkle, pass breath?
I fail, by default, to move even a straw from the wound.

Thereby, I beseech thee, relieve me, seal my being a fool
From these feigned senses, how ludicrous they prove!
Let me be a disciple to the vast earth extended to infinity.

Nothing matters to it, or it is never heard of saying a thing.
How hard the rain pours on it, leaving it soaked to the core.
How rude the rocks pound on it only, instantly, to melt into its bosom.

Those who abhor me, stab me in the back.
I wish to hug them with love and divinity.
If only could I prostrate as ever the earth lies flat.

Yet she profuses green and wealth to all,
Takes all into its breast when all others deny to lodge.
If only could I allocate me to all in selfsame serenity.
