क्यों ये अलग अलग
आरज़ू, हसरतें, तम्मन्ना सब एक ही तो है
फिर क्यों ये अलग अलग परेशां करे हैं?
मंज़िल तो सब की एक ही नज़र आती है हमको
फिर क्यों अपने रास्ते सब अलग अलग करें हैं?
पास तो सबके एक ही घडी है
फिर क्यों ये तक़दीर वक़्त अलग अलग बताती है?
हवा तो फ़िज़ा में एक ही चलती है
सांसों से निकल कर क्यों मर्ज़ अलग अलग बताती है?
एक पेट लिए फिरते हैं हम अपने बदन पर
सौ हसरतों से हम क्यों इसे अलग अलग खिलते हैं?

Desires, longings, wishes are all but the same Then why do they bother us differently? We end up always in the same place Then why do we take different ways? Everyone carries a watch to keep time Then why does fate strike us at different times? Wind blowing outside is the same for everyone Then why when exhaled tells different maladies? Our bowls are the same for all of us Then why do we feed them different delicacies?
