052810a I Came Before Rain Poem by Manonton Dalan

052810a I Came Before Rain

where are blades of grass
that covered this rich plains
i brought my herds to graze
to see gravel laden river bed
footprints who came before
still fresh on southern path

i will stay and dig moist soil
in search of water beneath
how much time do i have left
before vultures start singing
prayers would be late i know
i'm sure there's water below
