It's latent
everything languid
my refusal to let go
of what's already gone
of that which was never
truly mine - it never got that far
Hesitant
willfully negligent
of the facts and my own common sense
but as the elders say "It'll all come out,
in the wash." you can't hide from the truth
it'll come looking for you - in your dreams
forcing you to behold its eerie countenance
decloaking its shadowy self before you
Stagnant
I know what I must do
I simply don't want to
I'm like a drowsy schoolkid in the morning
"Please 5 more minutes mom, I promise I will get up
I promise..."
Let me cling just a little longer...
in your dreams forcing you to behold its eerie countenance: very connecting imagery amidst a sense of emotional dependency- honest and moving/unafraid to express need: making something painful elegantly poetic
