.5. My Barley Twist Poem by David Threadgold

.5. My Barley Twist

Rating: 5.0

Who twists the barley sugars?
Then cuts them up so neat
Who dusts them all with sugar?
That tastes so very sweet

Why does our local sweet shop
Always keep them in a jar
Why can we always have some?
When we go out in the car

What makes them go all sticky?
As the sugars sucked away
What caused my bag to have just six?
When I had ten yesterday

Where do my friends all come from?
When I open up a bag
Where did they get the signal?
Or has someone got a flag

When the last two in my pocket
Get all covered up with fluff
I take a final look at them
And I know I’ve had enough
