.6. Slight Insomnia Poem by David Threadgold

.6. Slight Insomnia

Mister Sandman where are you
I neither dream nor sleep
I’ve tried so many different things
And even counted sheep

I looked for you in malted milk
To rest my weary head
Then tried some best malt whisky
But I couldn’t find my bed

I tried those special pillows
That mould to different shapes
Listened to soft music
And even whale noise tapes

Why do you never visit?
You always used to call
Many sleep filled nights of dreams
Now I don’t see at all

Could it be you’ve lost the way?
Or have you got the sack
Whatever has befallen you?
I wish you’d hurry back

Please take my invitation
An appointment you must keep
Sandman I’ve been missing you
And I really need some sleep
