A Boy Playing With A Spider Poem by Paula Glynn

A Boy Playing With A Spider

A little boy spots a spider in the garden shed
Whereas most little boys want the spider dead
This little boy wants the spider alive
And wants to watch the innocent spider
Weave and deceive that complex web

A little boy wonders about the spider's web
Wonders what and how the spider eats
And how the small spider survives
In the dark and cold garden shed
A spider refusing to become dead

A little boy puts the small garden spider
On his young carpenters hands
Wishing to know how the spider works
How to read the spider's movements
And the spider's nature understand

A little boy playing with a spider
Not afraid of the small garden spider
A spider with a soul deep nature
No one able to stop a spider
Spinning its never ending sticky web

A little boy playing with a spider
Looking at its colours:
Colours of dark blue and white
An unusual spider that's for sure
Not all spiders' discovered plain black

A little boy growing up to love spiders
A little boy playing with a mysterious garden spider
A little boy reading on Wikipedia about spiders
A little boy teaching others to love garden spiders
A little boy to value mother nature with all its vibrancy.
