A Bright Soldier Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

Mother India is proud of her great son,
Lance Naik Hanumanthappa kopad,
Who died a heroic death like a true soldier,
For six days he was caught in the Siachen Glacier,
And he was still alive,
Such is the indomitable spirit of a soldier,
And such is the courage of a fighter.
Prayers in temples, mosques and churches were running abundant
For the life of the bright son,
The doctors were marvelled at his endurance,
They tried their best for his survival with great patience,
But all their efforts were in vain,
As the brave warrior died leaving everyone stunned and perplexed.
The great gladiator is no more,
But he remains as an icon of true patriotism for the years to come.
