Lock the doors keep them in,
Throw away the keys.
The minutes crawl the hours drag,
It seems like centuries.
This auditorium this lecture theatre,
Feels like a prison cell.
One sat here and another over there,
A social distanced hell.
Do this do that! Do this do that!
Broadsided in each face.
We are learning absolutely nothing,
A sham and utter disgrace.
Endless speaker after endless speaker,
Down loads chapter and verse.
An audience losing the will to live,
Phoning for a local hearse.
Each so called speaker a cold automaton.
With no greeting smile.
Dear God at least try to act human,
At least once in a while.
We're surely receive a comfort break,
To escape once and for all.
But no! They carry on and on and...on,
With their deliberate drawl.
Finally we discover there is a God,
As the last speaker walks away.
Then we're all cruelly reminded,
To be continued the next day.
This insightful poem resonates with me. It is a waste of time and resources if the audience will lost their interest to listen because of the incapacity of the speaker to reach her audience. Another brilliant write, Shaun that serves as a wake up call to speakers.
Dominic thanks for your comment and you are right for its like that sometimes. C'est la vie. Thanks again and take care.
And thanks again for revisiting once again Rose Marie and again thanks for your most kind comment. Take care and I wish you well.
O how dreadful it must be to have to listen to these people Shaun! I think you have perfectly encapusulated the feelings associated with listening to boring speakers and I thought the government briefings were bad. Anyway it's a tiresome, tedious ten from me!
The second line of the fourth stanza has been now been amended and should read... Downloads chapter and verse. Sorry about that.

A fascinating poem that must be read by speakers or who are engaged to talk before a large audience or a small crowd.. A speaker must be able to get the attention of his/ her audience otherwise it will just be a futile exercise to be talking and talking without assimilation.
