A Child's Realization Poem by Amber Green

A Child's Realization

Rating: 4.5

An innocent child's eyes
See the white powder on the table
She tries to believe his lies
But somehow she's not able
Watching her father zone into space
She cant figure out what is so wrong
But knows something is out of place
And has been for far too long
A child of only 8 years old
Trys to understand why her family fell
Why daddy is always shaking from the cold
When it is really hot as hell
Then her teacher talks about the drugs people abuse
And how wrong it can be
She knows the truth but doesnt want to accuse
In her realization my little sister becomes me
She begins to hate her dad
then she constantly wonders why
Why he deprived her of the life she could have had
And eventuallly she hates him for his lie
