A Cocky Jesus With Diamonds?
Imagine the good Lord
brandishing a diamond encrusted
holy golden sword!
Declaring his accomplishments many!
Collecting millions of dollars and even pennies!
Packing his big swanky houses
with holy people,
shunning those
who fun espouses
'I own the biggest most marvelous temples'
'I 'saved' thousands of souls this year'
' I need more money'
' I make the best wine'
'No cussing or there will be HELL Fire
and DAMNation for you and the Whores'
'Worship ME'
'Are YE not Gods? '
Hmmm? I read the New Testament and I don't find this Jesus today.
Not here at home nor far away.
His teachings guide as a Guru,
deep in spirit, can fill you
or move thru you
Where is the humble lover of souls
where are his sandals, covering soles?
Where is the kindness and compassion
lack of riches or any fashion?
Today's Jesusite, parades his gold
but is often tight
has the keenest Biblical insight
can many verses recite
with other brothers fight
cuz 2 wrongs make a right
Paints Jesus white
Preachers love sound bites
Will a Jew/Gentile/Muslim/Hippie, smite?
but always in the 'Right'
Sorry Jesus,
I don't see them reflecting your light
... this is where and why I take flight

Nail on the head! You heard what I said? Seems few know him Thought I didn't Til I met them. Now me thinks Me knows too much That with the love Makes me a duck Tell me, r u a duck too? Or have you your dragon slew? Mine has 9 lives Why so Often I cry.

interesting. didn't know the YBJ/Y name. i've been out of the jesus loop for years; maybe that has something to do with my not being terribly familiar with the content of the poem. as always i enjoy reading some rhymes. thanks for sharing. bri :) this is a side of you i haven't seen before. ;)
