A Comparison. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

A Comparison.

Rating: 5.0

Many species of snakes
are deadly poisonous,
either poison the nerves
or poison the blood.
The poison glands are sacks
on either sides of the upper jaw.
A bite injects the venom by fangs,
a pair of syringe like teeth in jaw.
The snakes bite when any one
treads upon them.
As such they don't sting
and cause any harm.

Snake is cruel because of poison
that kills any one,
can be controlled
by removal of glands, fangs Pungi, Gada, Sarpagandha, mantras,
venom can be
nullified by anti-venom.
But the wicked man
is crueller than the snake
and the cruellest of all as
the source of its venom and
methods by which it is transmitted
are still mysterious and unknown.

A snake can bite you once, but
the wicked bite in each and
every step even if you don't provoke
and tread upon.
Sometimes they speak
sweet words in your front,
take truth amiss,
stab you mercilessly in the back,
unpredictable person.

When one fails to argue,
he/she can not digest,
vomits quarrels,
vituperates, becomes pedantic, daunting
and creates prejudicial and
Inclement weather to increase
some one's agony.
Can not concede the truth,
concocts brawl, puffed up with anger,
loses the sense of harmony.

Why fight with them?
They speak and write unpleasant words,
I let them derive the pleasure that is absurd.
Best way for me is not to create a conflict
in my mind,
accept it as other's perception
that need not be the truth.
Condemning them adds to
the anguish of my heart,
his perception of others won't
be distorted,
I try my best to accept.

I quote Theodore Roosevelt
' A man who has never gone to school
may steal from a freight car; but if
he has a University education he
may steal the whole rail road.'
Imagine the educated wicked,
more dangerous than uneducated wicked,
my mind really wants to avoid them
like we avoid a pitcher full of poison
coated with ambrosia at its head.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The evil are more dangerous than the most deadly snakes.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Wonderfully heartfelt writing. Yes. A snake raises its hood only when provoked. But, a vile illicit human being is simply bent upon creating ruckus, just for the satisfaction of his ego. We need to simply ignore them and move ahead.
