I watched a The Globe and Mail podcast on cryptocurrency where a first, Cole Diamond, spoke
I thought that digital currency might possibly be like casino money or Monopoly money
But decided that it is best that I continue to gamble on my instinct rather than my luck;

I hope that my son is an ace at getting a clover to come true in his life,
And he is a king of hearts,
Who will woo a queen of diamonds
And is an everyday Jack who has success in spades; (Oxford English Dictionary  in spades = to a large amount or to a high degree)

There was a time when I liked playing cards a little and doing the casino rounds
And I remember going to Reno with my elder brother and his family and a male, younger cousin
Where we drank in the casino spirit along with some spirits and this raised our spirits
My husband who dislikes gambling unless I guarantee wins from my side disapproved
And instead of becoming tearful, Honey, the sexaholic in me should have said:
Your set jaw makes me become sexually charged
And I should have asked him to wear the sweaters I bought
And then I should have the pleasure of undressing him
And saying that I play for high stakes, your virtue and a definite flush for me;

The shopaholic in me did go to The Bloor West Village past store, Durie Lane,
And buy a snack dish with playing cards on the dishes, a plate with two bowls
But my dear hubby did not take to the look of it on the coffee table
And I ended up gifting it to an older female cousin who had hosted a few dinner sessions
Where we had gambled to our heart's content,
And I had presented a tie with playing cards on it
To my ex-supervisor when I was a research associate at the Dept. of Chemical Eng. and Applied Chemistry, U of Toronto,
This did get me a career in the corporate world for about 3 months and Employment Insurance for about 18 months
When I was an ace at pace, a corporate king's corporate queen living alone with my child in a different city, and my son was a little past the time when a jack in the box would please him;

The workaholic in me would like to make a project of people's weakness for gambling
And rent a Russian roulette wheel, a Blackjack table and a poker table
And raise funds for my charity, Humboldt Broncos,
For the Humboldt Bronco team died a tragic death playing the game of hockey
Which they loved
And in all sports, one gambles on the other team's weaknesses,
But in a team sport, drawing a flush isbetting on the team spirit and co-ordination.

An amazing journey. I'll be reading the saga. The part about children growing up and playing life the way, perhaps, many of us have studied the tables in Vegas is....true, so true....A terrific poem, Gayathri
