A Cycle Of Writing Poetry Continues Continues Continues Poem by Terence George Craddock

A Cycle Of Writing Poetry Continues Continues Continues

as a poet did I ever write an inspired masterpiece
which were masterpieces the best crafted poems
with enduring themes written across time I feel out
of all those poems the thoughts the lines that I only wrote
a fingernail on the tip of the little finger on my left hand
instead of an entire body of thoughts time working allowed
little free stolen time sometimes several times an entire
year of no writing the sacrifice weekends nights writing

was not mine like leaves falling from an autumn treefall
fallen pages spanning a poet's lifetime across many decades
throughout a long lifetime at times I might have proved
to be a bit of a poet the reason for this but a single cause
few might know it as a child a few times out of the blue
I might have written a poem or two as a teenager on a rare

occasion or two I might have written a dozen a score
poems more but kept none to store till in my twenties
I never wrote poems plenty till in my twenties I might
have slowly built up written more written 170 extant
but truth to tell I never choose poetry poetry choose
mind intense me a few crazy nights of can't get need rest
to sleep sleepless insomnia in my thirties written similar
poems extant in the 150s in my forties when words came

poetic verse a curse would not let me be forced me to get
up out of bed write back in bed in out in out of bed word
by word a frustration absurd forced to write a little at night
a familiar creative trend that started in first year in lifetime
defining turned twenty thinking finally searching for first
before twenty one life purpose goal philosophy life concept

as a poet did I ever write
an inspired masterpiece
which were the masterpieces
defined best crafted poems
with enduring themes written
across time I feel out of all
those poems the thoughts
the lines that I only wrote

a fingernail on the tip of the little finger on my left hand
instead of an entire body of thoughts time working allowed
little free stolen time sometimes several times an entire year
of no writing the sacrifice weekends nights writing was not
mine like leaves falling from an autumn treefall fallen pages
spanning a poet's lifetime across many decades throughout

a long lifetime at times I have proved to be a bit of a poet
the reason for this but a single dealt hand few might know it
as a child a few times out of the blue I might have written
a poem or two out of the blue poetic seeds scattered across
time as time passes in ever tightening cycles poetry manifests
a cycle of writ writing poetry continues continues continues
