A Dawn Journey Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

A Dawn Journey

Rating: 5.0

The night was old
The night was cold
A low hanging crescent moon
And the bright morning star
Followed me to the airport

I scanned the grey sky
For a second bright moon
Searching for Betelgeuse
Preparing to die
With a fiery light show

It was a no show
The star was holding on
In spite of the predictions
The sky remained clear
The sun rode in

People sneezed and coughed
People wore masks
The threat of corona virus
Loomed large over the world
A quiet flight took off
